Expertise: Recognized as the founder of minimally invasive beating-heart coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) in China and a pioneer in the clinical application of artificial heart assist devices (VAD), he performed the nation’s first transmyocardial laser revascularization (TMLR), ventricular assist device (VAD) implantation, and minimally invasive off-pump beating-heart coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB).To date, he has completed over 20,000 cardiac surgeries, with surgical volume and success rates achieving internationally leading standards.

After graduation in 1983, he was assigned to the Cardiac Surgery Department at Fuwai Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences.

Upon returning to China in 1996, he successively held positions as Director of Cardiac Surgery at Peking University People’s Hospital, Director of Cardiac Surgery at Peking University Third Hospital, Chair of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Peking University, and Director/Honorary Director/Chief Consultant of the Cardiac and Great Vessel Surgery Department at Tongji University East Hospital.
